Chambered.

Maybe it had been his ski mask,
how he circled with a fingertip,
the lip-rim of his drinking glass,
how he never faltered,
never slipped,
just went right on through with it…
perhaps it was his accessory,
chambered round in a gun,
pointed directly at me,
he never slowed speed,
no inkling to run,
he’d only come to get a job done…
words expressed physically,
things that he managed to say,
using just the language of body,
never struck out,
or hollered my way,
the tension forced words right out of the way.
